  1. go to amazon.com and buy a book for a stranger. send it to them anonymously. say something like happy reading stranger; love, a librarian.
  2. send a postcard poem to friends or family. jack martin at the morningside heights branch library does this as a library program with teenagers - you just need pens, postcards, stamps, and books of poetry (or people can write their own). walk to nearest mailbox. send.
  3. postcardx.net: same idea as the random acts of poetry described above; you're just mailing a thought, poem, or song to a stranger. postcardx.net provides the name and address.
  4. janice writes that on the days when she has extra change "i buy coffees for the people behind me in the drive through at Tim Horton's." what lucky people!
  5. dave writes "when I walk in to a supermarket and see an old person waiting for a cab, I take note. On the way out, if they're still there, I offer them a ride. Once in a while they go for it and are very appreciative.
