I'm learning "I’m so lonesome I could cry" by Hank Williams at the moment. Could there be a sadder song in the world? I think not.

Question: has anyone else covered it? I'd love to hear other versions.

Hear the lonesome whipperwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I’m so lonesome I could cry

I’ve never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind a cloud
To hide it’s face and cry

Did you ever see a robin weep
When leaves begin to die
That means he’s lost the will to live
I’m so lonesome I could cry

The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I’m so lonesome I could cry
