This was the night of the lunar eclipse. The clouds came over low while the moon was covered, and the moon never reappeared. Since I was out in the park with my tripod I decided to take some shots of the playground. This is the one I'm happiest with. The lights filtering in from the street make me think of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I didn't feel scared photographing alone in the park, although in retrospect it was probably risky. It was only when I was packing up and leaving that I became frightened. Can you see the little footbridge on the play structure? Right as I walked underneath I thought: "if this was a horror movie this is the moment the serial killer would reach down through the bars and grab me."

i just fed-ex'd my entire life to the canadian passport office and i am full of anxiety. the canadian passport office requires that you send the original documents with your application, which means that fed ex has both passports, my work visa, my ssn, and my citizenship card in their possession. deep breath. deep breath. deep breath.
even though i have photocopies, i am now in nyc with no documents. another thing has changed since i last applied for a passport: since 9/11 they also require two personal references (whom they will call to vouch for you) as well as info on my employer and my addresses for the last two years. ah well. as soon as the passport gets back i can apply for my visa to russia. hooray. huzzah. yippee!

next time i say something like "umm... i'm bored of my blog.. i think i'll redesign" just don't let me. under any circumstances. i think, finally, i have the archives almost working again (although i've lost 18 months...).... arghghghg....
