Meet the Pentagon's oldest reporter - 91 year old Raymond Cromley.
In the 'possibly more than you wanted to know about your neighbors' category: nyc bloggers. Add yo' fine self.

In unrelated news, opinions on buying the old church in Nova Scotia are slowly emerging. Liz pointed out that as my "5 year plan" changes every 5 minutes I might not want to get too attached to a place I've never lived, in a province I've never visited. Felix reminded me that there are only 300,000 people in Halifax, whereas my borough alone (Brooklyn) has a population of 2.5 million. He suggested I might be a bit lonely, given my current big-city habits. I'm still not sure. Does anyone know anything about propane heating?

I think I might just have found my new home. What do you think?

It was a bittersweet weekend; one I will surely write about with a little distance. In the meantime, here are some photos.

Hooray for the Homer Township Public Library District. They asked their citizens how they could make the library better, and the city responded: stay open more hours. And so they are doing it. How's this for public service? Monday-Thursday 8:30am to 9pm, Friday 8:30am to 5pm, Saturday 8:30am to 4pm and Sunday 4pm to 8pm. In marketing their early morning hours they said "Are you a morning person? Kids off to school and ready to roll? Need to make a quick copy or return items before heading to work? To provide increased patron service, the Homer Township Public Library now opens its doors at 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Feel free to stop in with your cup of coffee in hand. The Library does allow snacks and drinks although they are not permitted at or near computer terminals and workstations."

Thanks to everyone who wrote and asked if I was doing okay. I'm not unwell but at the same time I'm not well. Updates and/or photos soon on: my 20th high school reunion; a visit from boomerangs; attack by a vicious kitty; the new five year plan; the very handsome 'window-sofa' my dad built for me; and how much i love and miss Ottawa - home of artists, writers, poets, tulips and chip wagons (just a few of my favourite things).
